What is a Travel Medicine program?
Doctors Care has board-certified physicians with expertise in travel medicine who are specially certified to administer specific foreign illness vaccines. Our services include pre and post consultations, immunizations and other preventive health recommendations and services customized to your needs.
Immunization is for all travelers. In addition to travel-related vaccines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises you to be up to date with all routine vaccinations before you travel. Many preventable diseases rarely seen in the United States are still prevalent in other parts of the world.
To set up a pre-travel consultation or for more information, please fill out our Travel Medicine Online Questionnaire Form.
The Doctors Care Travel Medicine Program is available at the following locations in South Carolina:
It’s important to meet with a travel medicine specialist four to six weeks before your trip. Why? Some vaccines take several weeks and multiple injections to become fully effective. And only a travel medicine specialist can answer your questions and make specific recommendations based on your destination, personal health factors and the latest information available. Our providers are constantly updated on the latest guidelines provided by the World Health Organization, the CDC and the U.S. Department of State.
Do I need immunization records?
Proof of yellow fever vaccine may be required to cross certain international borders. In this case, the vaccine must be given at least 10 days before travel. A stamped vaccine certificate will be issued to you when you get the vaccine, and the vaccine can only be given by a registered provider — like our registered travel medicine specialists at Doctors Care.
If you are traveling with a religious or educational mission group, you may also be required to provide proof of current immunizations to protect yourself and your hosts. Our travel medicine specialists can provide this documentation for you through this program.
